<p>It is my opinion that every small business should be built to sell. This doesn&#8217;t mean you are planning on selling any time soon. Thinking about your business in terms of its saleability simply helps you to create systems, hire teams, and build a business that works for the long term. The very things that make a business appealing to a buyer make it a profitable and rewarding business for you to run for as long as you want.</p>
<p>For this episode of the podcast, I caught up with Jack Garson, the author of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0312383118?ie=UTF8&amp;tag=allb0f-20&amp;linkCode=as2&amp;camp=1789&amp;creative=390957&amp;creativeASIN=0312383118">How to Build a Business and Sell it For Millions</a>. In the book, Garson makes the connection between building a strong business and having the ability to sell it for a tidy profit. This is really two books in one. Matt talks about the importance of small business owners protecting not only their own identity, but also the identities of customers and employees by guarding sensitive information more closely.</p>
<p>Matt shares a lot of great advice, such as:</p>
<ul>
<li>Treat identity as an asset, protect it like you protect money.</li>
<li>Be careful what you share, thieves can take information from different locations. Think twice before you share information, such as your birth date.</li>
<li>As a small business owner, you need to work hard to protect the sensitive information of those who trust you, such as customers and employees.</li>
<li>Identity thieves may be someone you know, someone who is desperate. Don&#8217;t make it easy for anyone to access your sensitive information.</li>

Identity theft is a growing issue. Most of us think of identity theft in terms of our credit card or social security information being stolen.
In this episode of the All Business Answers podcast, I speak to Matthew Cullina of Identity Theft 911. Matt talks about the importance of small business owners protecting not only their own identity, but also the identities of customers and employees by guarding sensitive information more closely.
Matt shares a lot of great advice, such as:

Treat identity as an asset, protect it like you protect money.
Be careful what you share, thieves can take information from different locations. Think twice before you share information, such as your birth date.
As a small business owner, you need to work hard to protect the sensitive information of those who trust you, such as customers and employees.
Identity thieves may be someone you know, someone who is desperate. Don’t make it easy for anyone to access your sensitive information.

<p>For this episode, I am joined by Steve Kolbe, the president of <a href="http://www.analysys.net">AnalySYS</a>, which provides business network solutions, including virtual networks and cloud computing.</p>
<p>Steve explains what cloud computing is and how small businesses can both save money and increase flexibility with a cloud based network. While web workers have been enjoying some of the benefits of the cloud with more online applications, a true cloud network can host software and provide the exact same user interface at multiple locations. This makes it possible for employees to bring their work with them and helps businesses that have workers in multiple locations.</p>
<p>There are also great benefits for small businesses that still work traditionally in one location but who do not want the security risks and maintenance costs (let alone the upfront costs) of having an onsite server and IT support team.</p>

<p>Andrew points out that it is sometimes a simple question that will help you move to the next big thing in your life. He also believes that we get so much more value out of tools like Twitter if we are asking and answering questions.</p>
<p>Ask Summit is an event where the &#8220;speakers&#8221; answer a series of questions, rather than give a speech. The questions are asked live, on stage, by the person who submitted the question. Andrew points out that it is sometimes a simple question that will help you move to the next big thing in your life. He also believes that we get so much more value out of tools like Twitter if we are asking and answering questions.
Ask Summit is an event where the “speakers” answer a series of questions, rather than give a speech. The questions are asked live, on stage, by the person who submitted the question. Questions will be chosen by voting ahead of time. Learn more at AskSummit.org.
